Overview:

After the Treaty of Taurus was modified to include the Fronc Federation, Taurus, Canopus, and Fronc agreed to design a completely new BattleArmor design that could be used throughout all territory covered by the Treaty. It took them years to reverse engineer Inner Sphere and Clan BattleArmor designs, and match those ideas with technology locally produced. The prototypes first saw action in 3064 against pirates, but several were lost due to inadequate armor. The design went back to the engineers and they added modern armor to the design, upgrading the protection level to something the militaries of the Trinity Alliance were willing to place into full production.

Capabilities:

A medium recoiless rifle is the Trinity's primary weapon package, giving the BattleArmor a greater effective combat range than other designs. They sometimes use other weapons, from lasers to machine guns, but the recoiless rifle is the standard that other packages are measured by. In the Concordat, the Trinity has replaced the "heavy weapon support units" in infantry formations, as they once used the exact same weapon. The Trinity is also able to move faster then standard infantry carrying those weapons, and can fire while on the move, something that standard infantry was incapable of doing. Finally, the suit's armor has been shown in practical combat to be able to survive something as devastating as a direct hit from a particle cannon or autocannon salvo and continue to fire back. This survivability, and the greater effective range of its primary weapon, has made the Trinity design more popular than the common Genasi-derived design in many soldiers' eyes.

Deployment

Each of the member nations of the Trinity Alliance field their own version of the Trinity, sporting the same capabilities, differing only in their appearance. Interestingly, the nations of the Trinity Alliance did not design the differing looks. They had design teams in place for that, thinking up politically suitable names and designs, but an enterprising engineer from the Taurian planet of Hellespont came up with his own designs drawing on ancient Greek mythology. The Asterion came first, with a bull motif that impressed the Taurians. The Europa came next, with an elegant look that caught the attention of the Canopians. The Minos came last, with a rugged look that impressed Fronc. When told the tale of Asterion, Europa, and Minos, the Trinity Alliance representatives agreed to accept the designs as is. Now deployed across the Trinity Alliance, the Trinity BattleArmor is one of the most common units in use.
